On completion of the construction of the roof and installation of the building services, Roof-Pro were approached by the mechanical and electrical engineers to design a custom access platform to aid maintenance access to their air handling unit (AHU).

During our design correspondence it became apparent from site drawings that the roof space contained a high concentration of building services prompting a site visit from our area technical manager to determine the particular requirements.

It was decided that due to the close proximity of the attenuator to elevate the platform above it to meet with the AHU at a target height of 2105mm. The limited space requirements resulted in the fabrication of a cat ladder to the side of the platform rather than a typical step arrangement. Additional pipe installations by the services engineers required flexibility during our fabrication in order to fit our platform around the services this was overcome by running the pipes parallel along the 3300mm long platform.

The platform and its constituent components were all hot dip galvanised and supported on the innovative Roof-Pro non penetrative support bases, permitting quick installation without penetrating the roof. The engineers on site were particularly pleased with the flexibility and design support that was afforded to them, helping them complete their project on time.
