What are HVAC Supports?
HVAC supports are engineered steel support frames with non penetrative support bases that facilitate the installation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment (HVAC) on roofs of both new build and refurbishment projects.
What are they made of ?
Roof-Pro HVAC Support systems are constructed of hot dipped galvanised support frames supported on polypropylene bases with rubber isolation mats.
In what circumstances does a company need them?
When installing HVAC roof top units (RTU). Flat and continuous roofs provide an excellent platform for installing building services equipment as it is often unused external space. But, installing services on flat roofs can also be plagued with hazards particularly when left to those who fail to understand the context of the installation.
Some typically bad installations often seen on site include dumping services on the waterproofing with no regard for weight loading or stability. This often results in damage to the roof and decommissioning of equipment to mend the roof at incredible costs and inconvenience. Other typical bad installations include poorly designed services layout with no room for maintenance access and cold bridging at curb junctures, adding to the potential for leaks and non compliance with Part L guidance on heat loss and thermal bridging.
The Roof-Pro System resolves these issues and more, providing an engineered support system that is designed to the roofs loading capacity with stability and maintenance clearance designed into the support system. Each support system is engineered with non penetrative support bases, providing complete flexibility without violation of the roofs waterproofing. So clients can update services and even refurbish the roofs waterproofing without having to decommission building services.
The Roof-Pro Range of HVAC Supports
Roof-Pro offers a range of HVAC supports covering every area of building services including: Cable trays, pipes, mechanical units (AHU's, chillers), condensers and ducting.
The particular HVAC support depends on the installation environment and what is being installed. Roof-Pro utilise a number of typical support arrangements, but often the loading capacity and the design of the roof calls for bespoke design to ensure stability and effective weight distribution to reduce point loading pressures. Our team of technical managers, surveyors and engineers are on hand to provide the best solution for each particular project.
