Project: Supermarket,
Scunthorpe.
Completion Date: Autumn
2003
Roof finish: Felt
overlay / cork insulation / profiled metal deck
A split-level profiled metal deck roof assembly with purlins
typically centred at 1.5metres and main steel beams centred
at 7.0 metres. The subcontractors & structural engineers
approached Roof Pro expressing concerns that initial proposals
called for traditional structural steel support beams. Steels
columns would have meant penetrations through the roof to the
structural steels inside the store (resulting in the store
having to be temporarily closed). RP technical sales offered
a range of solutions incorporating RP Pods 18x4TP (with pivoting
bases), each having extended 8 metre long connecting steel
beams. Roof Pro prepared production and positional CAD drawings
to assist the M&E sub contractors to position individual
legs and bases directly above (or in close proximity) to the
purlins in accordance with the structural engineers requirements.
Roof Pro freestanding galvanised frames have been installed
to support various extractors, AHU’s condensers, ducts,
pipes and cables. Several PP3 riser and RP PF 2 assemblies
have also been installed to allow for future expansion of services.
In addition, a large greenhouse house sits on the roof weatherproofing
membrane and inside are a number of large steel potting frames.
Roof Pro RP CS supports were adapted to allow access to the
weatherproofing beneath the staging.
RP Products: RP Pods 18x4TP
with 8mtr extended steel beams / Tab C cable tray supports.
