Ply PVC membrane
A new £5 million retail development. The initial design
included for plinths & steel beams, however, the client
and their design team expressed concerns that plant would have
to be decommissioned and removed in the event of any leaks
as a result of any damage to the PVC membrane. (200 holes were
found after the roof had been tested) Decommissioning services
in future was unacceptable due to the impact it would have
on business. The initial plinth design proposals where therefore
rejected in favour of the Roof Pro system. Total weight of
plant on the PVC roof is understood to be in excess 50 tonnes
with several AHU’s weighing approx 4.5 tonnes. RP technical
sales assisted the architects, building services engineers
and structural engineers to evaluate a number of options designed
to achieve permissible pressures and point loads. RP were also
approached to provide a couple of unique access platform solutions
in areas having limited available space.
